HannOVER? – Ecodesign, 20 years after the Hannover principles. Photograph of a poster thrown into the Agbogbloshie landfill in Ghana: can it still be recycled?

On May 25, 2022, at EXSA – former prison of Sant’Agata in the upper town of Bergamo, Studio Switch organized and moderated a conference for the Order of Architects of Bergamo on the theme of Eco-Design, questioning whether sustainable design is feasible or utopian, considering the environmental disaster that the disposal of electronic products is causing. The stimulating dialogue that ensued was explored in depth by the four invited speakers:

– Francesco Roncoli, freelance photographer who documented the situation at the world’s largest electrical waste dump;

– Arch. Edoardo Milesi, owner of the Archos architecture studio;

– Prof. Vitaliano Fiorillo, director of Agri-Lab at Bocconi SDA University in Milan;

– Arch. Miriam Emiliano, product designer.

The choice of location was dictated by our desire to send a positive message on the subject, starting with the reuse of a now disused building.

In addition to the speakers, we would like to thank the sponsors Cariboni Group and Reggiani Illuminazione for their fundamental contribution in making the conference possible.
